Drift Union Invitational 2012

This event is one of the ones I have been looking forward to all year!  The boys of Drift Union host an invitational event once a year and it’s full of friends, cars, parties, drifting, team tandem, wall tap contests, longest entry contests and more! …. basically a recipe for something amazing!

Saturday started out a little wet, but don’t for a minute think that it slowed the day down at all!  Here I am getting ready for some practice with my team “midnight missiles”!

The Vancouver Island boys brought out a bunch of cars and were creating controlled havoc all weekend long!

If you have not heard of the HotBoyz by now, clearly you have been hiding under a rock!  Some really rad guys that push their cars and themselves to the edge.

The fog rolled in early in the evening which put the team tandem contest to a slightly early end. Gets a bit difficult to judge when you cant see a single car on the track….

Awards ceremony went on as the fog started to clear up so we could get back to business!

Logan Noel’s legacy tore it up all weekend long… until he decided to trade some paint with stevens soarer and bent the steering rack….  oops!

Hi Brooke!

Michael Turpin in one of the Serial Nine Cressida sliding around in the rain!

Kevin Peterson got the car fixed up from his crash last weekend at Forum Fest enough to drive this weekend!

Pat Lee from Drift Safari brought the Nissan Laurel out to play and he and I got some great tandem battles going!  That car is LONG…. got close enough to touch his rear quarter panel a few times!

This is one of those moments when you’re looking in the mirror saying… “PLease don’t hit me….”

Logan and Jack having some fun as the sun goes down.

Hey Rob… Where ya going buddy?  Track is over here….

Logan and Steve like to keep it close!

I feel like this is David vs Goliath… Jordan Hall’s Sr20 Miata seems to be a fairly even match for Steves soarer though!  keep it up guys!

My Team mates and I laying down some practice runs trying to figure out our order for the competition!

E-brake entries FTW!

Day 2

Aleks brought his Cressida Wagon up for sunday to watch the festivities.

And his friend Anthony with the legacy!  Seems we have a Logan wannabe in the area ;)  Right Anthony?

Tyson Noel manning the Drift Union Camera for some footage for their year end video (for all you video guys I fully suggest submitting footage for it, such an amazing video in the end!)

Dave Walsh giving chance to me through the hairpin and away from the tap wall!

More of pat lee giving chase towards the bank! ….. And Dylan Evans waving hello!

Trevor “Rasta Racer” Pudar in the rolla showing what years of practice and dedication to the sprot can do!

Chris Scremin recently pulled the SR20 out and dropped a VK56 in… after some minor bugs along the way the car was doing great by the end of sunday!

Kevin…. Breaking things again.  Notice the rear wheel?

Kevin’s car left a little gift on the track too….

Early in the day there was a wall tap contest (to which I made the top 5) so needless to say I had a pretty good idea of the line needed to tap the wall!

Dave Walsh following suit….

Dylan Evans waving goodbye to end my article!
