Driftwest is the series that took over what DMCC lacked on the West Coast of Canada, they are only in their first season but it was nice to see some cars I recognized and some organization to their madness! This round is the only one in BC and it was held at Penticton Speedway for labor day long weekend.

It’s an odd feeling for me after over 10 years in this community to show up to an event and not see anyone I know, let alone at a track I’ve shot many times and only a few hours from home….. Thankfully everyone was really nice and by the end of the day I had gotten to know a lot of new people!

Travis Clark was a regular in DMCC and now is keeping up with that with the Driftwest Series.

Shawn Hawley had a minor set back early in practice with a broken shift linkage! Thankfully he and the team got the car sorted out and going again an hour or so later.

Louren Sansregret has been part of the west coast drifting community for many years and has piloted this same car for all those years.

Kurtis Goat from Drift Farm has one of my favorite cars from the whole series, it just looks too nice to be drifting yet he drives the wheels off of it!

Shawn Hawley back on course after getting the car all fixed up. You can always tell when this guy is coming by the sound of his stereo drowning out the LS2 he has stuffed in the car!

Jordan Hall from Hotboyz/Dodologic came out in his SR20 Powered Miata to take one last kick at the can before heading back to his home town of Saskatoon. He at the rest of the Hotboyz have been living in Kelowna for the summer so it will be sad to see them go.

Top 16

AS the sun went behind the mountains we rolled in to the top 16!

Alex Lee showing Jason Zimmer exactly why he got Top spot in qualifying…. That must be pretty intimidating getting chased by such a big fast and very loud car! Jason held his own but Alex took the win.

Travis Clark and Shawn Hawley battled this for a while, they went one more time after both made a slight mistake and both drivers drove to the limits even in the dark!
