InMotion at Evergreen Speedway

For the first time in what seems like years I got to sleep in on a saturday, by sleep in I mean 8am…..

After my usual drive down to evergreen speedway I was greeted by the big man, Matt Faraca and the rest of the NWMotiv crew as they funnelled piles of cars into the event center to get their show set up.  I stopped by the staff tent and picked up my Media credentials before checking out a few cars in line and heading to the pit area to talk to some drivers.

Galen Callaghan came out in a blaze of glory!  After a year full of ups and downs he truly seemed comfortable in the car and turned the smoke machine onto full!

Kelly Thorpe was out in his 1UZ powered sporting a near gear set in the differential, looks like he had a lot more wheel speed!

Cameron Moore brought his Lexus up from Oregon, Smoke’em if you got’em!

Some more of the Galen smoke machine…. I love the sound of JZ in the morning!

Mr. Mike Phillips brought his Formula Drift Machine out to play and clearly he loved to hear that motor rev…. V8 power!

A little intermission fun between Kelly Thorpe and A local Drag bike to raise some money for a local boy fighting Cancer.  Wasn’t much of a competition (7 second bike vs drift car) but the guys put on a hell of a show for the crowd!

Victor Moore is one of the craziest drivers I know… How he sees over the hood with all the smoke… we’ll never know!

The ever Famous Forza Contest car…. I’m sure you’ve all tried the Primo Drift Challenge by now but watching Primo challenge his competitors is sooo much better!

Roland Gallagher drove the wheels off his 240sx!  Can’t wait to see him take on Irwindale!

As we got into the Top 16 we started to get some more exciting action like this battle between Kelly Thorpe and Mike Phillips!  These guys were leaving nothing on the table with the Pro-Am season over it was an all out fight for the $2500 first place prize!

Even 5/8ths newbie, Chris Greenfield, was not letting up!

Galen laying down a smoke screen for some unlucky competitor….

Smoke everywhere… these guys really weren’t leaving anything to chance!

Some of the PNW big guns duking it out in the Top 8!  After some amazing driving Victor moved on.

Kyle Pollard was out in the old Corolla showing some of the newer drivers just what it took for him to win his licence a few years back!

Hey Kory Keezer… you’re drifting the wrong way…

Matt Vankirk being followed by Kory Keezer in a battle for 3rd place!

Victor laying down yet another smoke screen against Kyle Pollard!

I want to pass on a huge congratulations to all the drivers on putting on a great show for the crowd and doing some amazing driving!

1. Kyle Pollard
2. Victor Moore
3. Matt Vankirk

Now lets take a quick walk over to the show part of this event!

A beautiful rendition of an EVO 10…. such a beautifully clean car!

I’m sure most of you have seen this Toyota Starlet around at the shows, but every time I see it I feel the need to look at it more and more!

A very clean S14 ….

The Team MENACE 350z looking as beautiful as always!

On that note it’s late and I need to get to sleep!  Hope you all enjoyed my article and be sure to attend next year’s InMotion!
